The New York Islanders are riding high after two straight wins over top-level opponents n the New York Rangers and the Carolina Hurricanes. But on the second of a back-to-back, New York faces the Colorado Avalanche, a pissed-off Avalanche team, who just fell 1-0 to the surging New Jersey Devils.

Puck drop is slated for 7:30 PM ET at UBS Arena.

New York Islanders head coach Lane Lambert will speak with the media at 5 PM to give updates.

With Ilya Sorokin playing last night, the belief is that Semyon Varlamov will get the start in goal. Varlamov spent eight seasons as a member of the Avalanche and is 1-1-0, with a 2.53 GAA and a .917 SV% in two starts this season.

Pavel Francouz started for the Avalanche on Friday night, as former New York Rangers netminder Alexandar Georgiev (4-0-1, 2.56 GAA, .921 SV%) is likely to start against the Islanders.

In 11 career starts against the Islanders, he is 8-3-0, with a 1.96 GAA and a .935 SV% with two shutouts.

Former New York Islanders defenseman Devon Toews faces the Islanders for the second time in his career, and has two goals and two assists over that span.
