Former GB hockey coach Danny Kerry is reportedly caught in the crossfires of the crisis engulfing English rugby and considering his position.

According to reports, Kerry was close to resigning in his position as Eddie Jones’ new training coordinator in improving the team’s culture, a position he only took up in the autumn.

The Times said this week that Kerry, who left GB Hockey after 17 years in January, was still considering his role at England Rugby.

It follows England’s worst season since 2008 as Jones oversaw another defeat at Twickenham.

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) have refused to confirm reports that England doctor Richard Tingay had become the latest of Jones’s backroom staff to exit, while also remaining tight-lipped on the future of Kerry.

“While the review of the Autumn Nations Series is ongoing we would not comment on this,” the RFU told British media.

Kerry, 51, left GB Hockey in January after roles comprising head men’s and women’s coach and past performance director.

Jones had said at the time of his signing for England Rugby: “I’ve known Danny for a long time and his depth and breadth of coaching knowledge will be a real asset to us as staff as we work towards becoming the best coaching team in the world.

“Joe will move back to an analyst role where he has a real impact and suits his strengths and skills.”

In August 2021, Kerry had hinted that he would want to continue as GB and England men’s coach after GB’s Tokyo campaign finished without a medal.

He put on the record in June 2020 that he had been engaged by Eton College for a role as director of sport,
