One of the coolest developments in the NHL over the past year or so has been Rasmus Dahlin‘s return to the form that initially made him one of the most coveted and hyped prospects to come to the league as a teenager.

It’s impossible to overstate just how dire things got in Buffalo towards the end of the Ralph Krueger era in 2021, and how detrimental that type of playing environment was to a young talent like Dahlin.

While the personnel they had that season wasn’t perfect by any means, the one thing they could actually do well is skate up and down the ice quickly. So of course they tried to slow things down and methodically grind possessions out, neutralizing any potential advantage they may’ve otherwise had.
