Secret Hockey Coach: Are you improving weaknesses in your squad at indoors?

I was in Germany recently – they do indoor right over there. No more outdoors until April; very civilised, multiple games in one venue on Saturday night, people in the bar afterwards. It’s how hockey should be.

So what are we getting out of indoor? If you are coaching indoor this year, is it a bit of a distraction to your outdoor pursuits? What’s the goal? Did you sit down and do goal setting with your team at the beginning of the season? How is your season going outdoors? What’s the major focus?

These are all questions you should be asking yourself right now before embarking on a potentially irrelevant indoor campaign. How many weeks a year do you coach indoor? Two to three? How many weeks a year do you coach/play outdoors?
