Draft Retrospective: Lessons and leftovers

There’s nothing quite like spending hours upon hours on something and then realizing everything you thought you knew was wrong.

That’s kind of how the Draft Retrospective series went.

It’s easy to make assumptions about what players looked like in junior. Oftentimes, they weren’t nearly as refined as the memory thinks.

There’s no better example than Connor McDavid, who, make no mistake, torched junior. But his game was hardly in the state that it is today. He did most of his work in three-to-five shifts, spending the rest of the game accomplishing as much as just about any other junior player (not a ton).

This article’s about the retrospective series, the lessons learned (like the one above), and the leftover profiles that were interesting but didn’t warrant full articles.
