Standout performances from the 2023 Desert Hockey Classic

TEMPE, Arizona – One of the final regular season tournaments on the college hockey schedule took place over the weekend, with Arizona State hosting the Desert Hockey Classic at its newly opened Mullett Arena.

The field featured two NCAA tournament hopefuls, Boston University and Michigan Tech, both of which had strong showings in the opening round. They dispatched Air Force and Arizona State, respectively, to advance to the tournament final. Michigan Tech ended up winning 3-2 despite being outshot by a decent margin, as one might expect between teams with such a disparity in the number of drafted prospects on each roster.

In the consolation game between the Falcons and Sun Devils, the hosts picked up a 2-0 win to send their fans home happy.
