Men’s Hockey World Cup: England’s Stu Rushmere relishing Spain battle

Bhubaneswar — A final group game usually brings permutations and anxious moments but England midfielder Stu Rushmere is only relishing another World Cup battle on Thursday after recovering from a stick to the cheek.

Rushmere, 22, left the field against India with blood over his face and needed five stitches before returning in England’s 0-0 thriller on Sunday.

“I’ve watched it a few times and I was caught on the follow through,” said Rushmere, who said The Hockey Paper was first to see the stitches having just taken off his plaster. “Massive credit to the medical team. I’ve never had that kind of experience.
