The proof is now in the pudding for English club hockey. Now that Finals Weekend has returned to the clubs – Surbiton having won the nod to host the two-day season finale – Premier Division sides will only have themselves to blame if they are unable to properly fill out Surbiton HC in the first weekend of April.
England Hockey has been lambasted over the years for failing to properly promote its domestic leagues. And rightly so, given the sparse league attendances and lack of any synergy or cohesion with clubs to get on the same page.
