The New York Rangers already made their big splash ahead of the trade deadline. The addition of Vladimir Tarasenko will bolster their top-six and push other forwards down the lineup in spots that better suit their skill sets.
They also made a smaller move along the margins, bringing Tyler Motte back into the fold on Sunday, in exchange for Julien Gauthier and a conditional draft pick. That doesn’t necessarily mean the team is done making deals, though.
They have some players that don’t quite fit their roster – like Vitali Kravtsov – and they probably still want to furnish their depth to help cement their playoff spot and sustain a long run in the postseason.
The good news is that they’re well-equipped to make those additions ahead of the trade deadline, with many of their developing players likely to draw significant interest. A change of scenery and a more substantial role in another team’s lineup could be all they need to unlock their potential.
