Repton School has secured the services of former England and GB captain Adam Dixon as director of hockey, while he will also take on a player coaching role at Repton HC.

With 49 national hockey titles, Repton continues to cement its reputation as a UK hockey powerhouse for both boys and girls. According to the school, Repton has an ‘outstanding sporting pedigree’, with 100% of pupils engaged in sport and 80% regularly representing the school competitively.

Dixon, who starts his role in September after previously having been at Clifton, said: “I am thrilled to join Repton this September and will be proud to help them continue their incredible achievements as a School and as a young club.

“I know first-hand what hockey can do for a person’s character and have been honoured to have some life-changing experiences through this amazing sport. I am passionate about creating those opportunities for the greatest number possible and know that Repton shares that passion. It is going to be very exciting.”

Repton headmaster Mark Semmence said the role “was clearly among the most hotly contested job opportunities in school sport”.

He added: “Adam stood out in the remarkable field. We are so pleased to have him join us at Repton and know that his appointment secures the brightest of futures for our already world-renowned programme.”

Dixon will also take on the role of lead coach at Repton Hockey Club, where he will also play for the Men’s 1s.

Club chairman John Tarrant said: “Adam is a perfect fit to continue the growth of one of the country’s most exciting, dynamic hockey clubs. Already Women’s Indoor Champions this year, having only formed in 2016, we can’t wait to see the impact that Adam will have on our development, both as a coach and as a player.”
