This week, we spent some time looking into the New York Islanders’ not-so-distant future as well as their far-away past.
Islanders Playoff Chances in 2023-24:
We’re nearly through the NHL’s offseason, and it appears that Islanders’ president of hockey operations and general manager Lou Lamoriello is done making moves. Compared to where it was to end last season, this team doesn’t look any closer to winning a Stanley Cup three months later, especially after much of the Eastern Conference improved this summer.
Reasons for Optimism:
While their chances of making the postseason are slim, it’s not impossible for the Islanders to make the playoffs. However, those hopes will rely heavily on a few key players stepping up this year.
Last Seasons’ Issues Still Remain a Problem:
As much fun as it is to discuss what the future might hold for this Islanders team, it’s still important to look back at the past from time to time.
The Islanders are a franchise rich with history, built largely on players who spent most of their careers with the team. However, there are a few players who made an impact on Long Island in a short amount of time.
