Good morning, my name is Andrew Fantucchio. It’s Saturday, September 23, and here’s what I’m focused on around the NHL today.

How Does Julien Gauthier Fit The Islanders?

With size and speed to match, Julien Gauthier is built like a New York Islander. But where exactly does he fit in their crowded lineup?

Coyotes Beat Kings; Cooley Scores Highlight Reel Goal:

The NHL kicked off its Global Series early this morning in Melbourne, Australia, where the Arizona Coyotes defeated the Los Angeles Kings, 5-3. I know it’s early, but Logan Cooley may have already scored the best goal of the season.

Hurricanes Look At Big Picture:

Although the Carolina Hurricanes have been heralded as one of, if not the favorite, to win this year’s Stanley Cup, head coach Rod Brind’Amour is reminding everyone that championships aren’t won during the preseason.

Brind’Amour: “It’s About Our Processes”

More From National Hockey Now:

New Jersey: Initial observations from Devils camp show the youth is ready to take the next step.

Washington: The culture within the Capitals organization is already changing under new head coach Spencer Carberry.

Philadelphia: In a year that isn’t expected to yield a lot of positives, there’s a lot of opportunity for Flyers prospects.

Boston: Pavel Zacha is showing signs of improvement as he’s expected to take over for Patrice Bergeron as the Bruins’s top center this season.

Florida: The Panthers know how grueling a deep playoff run is, which is why they’ve designed training camp to resemble one.

Detroit: Lucas Raymond bulked up during the offseason and is ready to see what results his new physique brings this year.

Colorado: Ryan Johansen is ready to be the answer to the Avalanche’s biggest question.

Los Angeles: An interview with Kings prospect Brandt Clarke that you won’t find anywhere else.

San Jose: Mikael Grandlund has re-found his smile in his new home
